Two Chamber Bat House Kit - BCI and MTBC Certified

Are you a Do-It-Yourself kind of person but just don't know what makes a good bat house?

Then this kit is for you !  Perfect kit for adults and kids who like to build things.

This bat house kit is designed to meet all 10 of Bat Conservation International (BCI) certification requirements, once built and painted.  Its unique tab and slot design makes assembly so easy a first grader can do it.  The kit comes mitered, grooved and ready to assemble.  Includes screws and instructions.  This two chamber kit can house an estimated 100 - 145 bats (depending on species).

Now approved by Merlin Tuttle's Bat Conservation (MTBC).

Be sure to check out the "Videos from the Bat Cave" tab for product videos!

Kids love this kit - This is the kit we use in our workshops!

Tools needed: small power drill

Additional tools you may find helpful:  clamps or masking tape

Supplies needed:  paintable latex caulk, paper towels and water-based paint for exterior finish

We use high quality building materials:  exterior grade ACX plywood.  All interior surfaces have cut grooves giving bats a permanent gripping surface that will never come loose and entangle or injure the bats.  Kit comes with instructions, screws, a drill bit and a finishing guide.  Please note:  we no longer include the decorative bat.

The finishing guide covers choosing a paint color, as well as, where and how to install your bat house for the best chances of success.

Please note:  the kit no longer comes with a decorative bat.

Made in the USA using global materials by us in our BatShop!

Specifications:

     Dimensions:  H 28" x W 18" x 3.5 D "

     Weight:    10 lbs.

Bat Capacity*:   about  100 to 145 (depending on the species)

Cubic Inches of Roosting Space:  440

*We attempt to be honest with our estimates allowing approx. 3 cubic inches for each bat. This includes an allowance for unused space since the bats will not pack the house top to bottom. Some species will crowd in very tightly, others will not.  Here's the math: "Cubic Inches of Roosting space / 3 Cubic Inches = estimate of capacity".

Why does it cost so much to ship?

Our bat houses are full size and certifiable.  They are not toys or small bird house style kits - this kit ships in a 29x17x3 box and ships at 12 lbs.

If you purchase more than one kit, the kits will be flat packed in as few boxes as possible and your shipping charges will be adjusted to compensate.  If you prefer to have each kit individually box, please let us know in the order comments.

    Easy to assemble.

Posted by Melvin Marsh on 20th Jul 2022

It was easy to assemble. They say they had 6 year olds doing it. I am not so sure it is THAT easy, but it is certainly easy enough for a physically disabled adult to do.

The kit arrived quickly, well-packaged, and all of the pieces were gorgeous and easy to slot together and screw in place. Excited for some bats!

Well thought-out design that's just the right size. Makes a fun family project that's not intimidating to get right. Watch the videos for good instructions and tips.

    easy construction

Posted by Dennis Krusac on 20th Nov 2017

I have never seen a kit of any type this easy to construct. It took me longer to get the plug out of my tube of caulk than it did to construct the bat house.
