Kids love this kit - This is the kit we use in our workshops!
Tools needed: small power drill
Additional tools you may find helpful: clamps or masking tape
Supplies needed: paintable latex caulk, paper towels and water-based paint for exterior finish
We use high quality building materials: exterior grade ACX plywood. All interior surfaces have cut grooves giving bats a permanent gripping surface that will never come loose and entangle or injure the bats. Kit comes with instructions, screws, a drill bit and a finishing guide. Please note: we no longer include the decorative bat.
The finishing guide covers choosing a paint color, as well as, where and how to install your bat house for the best chances of success.
Made in the USA using global materials by us in our BatShop!

Specifications:
Dimensions: H 28" x W 18" x 4.5 D "
Weight: 13 lbs.
Bat Capacity*: about 150 to 220 (depending on the species)
Cubic Inches of Roosting Space: 660
*We attempt to be honest with our estimates allowing approx. 3 cubic inches for each bat. This includes an allowance for unused space since the bats will not pack the house top to bottom. Some species will crowd in very tightly, others will not. Here's the math: "Cubic Inches of Roosting space / 3 Cubic Inches = estimate of capacity".
Why does it cost so much to ship?
Our bat houses are full size and certifiable. They are not toys or small bird house style kits - this kit ships in a 29x17x4 box and ships at 15 lbs.
If you purchase more than one kit, the kits will be flat packed in as few boxes as possible and your shipping charges will be adjusted to compensate. If you prefer to have each kit individually box, please let us know in the order comments.

Well Made, Easy to Assemble
The self drilling and countersinking screws are a very nice and unexpected feature of the kit. Would only add two tricks to the assembly instructions: First, it is very easy to have one or more of the screws track slightly to the inside and block the slide in slots for the inner panels (at least on the larger unit we bought. All you have to do is back the offending screw out and try inserting the panel again, so not a big problem. But I recommend carefully sliding in these inner panels from the open top before setting the back panel screws. Second, the painting instructions are a bit vague about the bottom front facing area on the back panel where the bats are going to grab on when they land. Yes paint it, but be careful to not make the paint layer too thick and round off the grooves cut into the wood. No harm in painting the bottom edges of the front panel and the bottom edges of the insert panels to protect them and for appearance. A final trick we discovered. We do not have a suitable tall tree with no lower branches up to 15 feet, and we did not want to mount the bat house to our house (droppings). So we needed a pole. Were able to buy a used bent aluminum flag pole from the local flag store. Still plenty of length left since they bend near the base, so all you need to do is saw the the bent part off. Once shortened, these solid aluminum tubes (no joints) are easily strong enough to hold the bat house in the wind. You can saw off the smaller diameter tapered top to get your 14 feet plus 3 or move feet into the ground. Also they are design so the outside diameter of the base of the aluminum tube fits nicely into standard plastic pipe. That way you can pull it up if need be in the future. Response: Thank you for your suggestions. We will look into making the suggested additions to the instructions. We appreciate your feedback.

Bat House Rating
This is a well constructed House. I have mounted the house approx. 16' on a metal expandable pole. I have had the house in place for 4 mos. with no bats. I have bats in the ends of my house. Response: Please keep in mind that it can take up to 2 years for bats to find your bat house. If you have bats in the ends of your house, they have no need to look for another roost. Once you evict them and seal your house, they should find the bat house. Make sure that your expandable metal pole does not swing in the wind, which will deter the bats from using the bat house.

Well built product, goes together easy!
Just like the videos on their site show, this item goes together very quickly. All parts are accurately manufactured to produce consistent results each and every time. I was quite frankly surprised that it went together as easily as the online video. A solid, durable product that will last for a long time. We are hanging it up today!

Excellent!
This was well built and easy to assemble. The directions were excellent. The customer service is exceptional. I accidentally bought the wrong version for my climate- they caught that mistake and I was able to fix it before they sent it out. Very pleased with this purchase.
